Big Sur
This is my first and most labor intensive digital illustration of a California coastline.
It is a panorama of the west coast just south of Monterey along Route 1.
Adobe Illustrator was used for generating all of the color shapes.
• The image size is 36 inches by 90 inches.
• The flattened file weighs in at 30 Megabytes(very small for such a large graphic).
• It took seven months (close to 1500 hours) to create.

• the overall image contains over 90 layers.
• Over 240,000 paths make up the multitude of shapes throughout the scene.

Close-up 1:
This view shows the visual changes from photo-like to color shapes (illustrated) of objects due to the layers of color shapes.

  Close-up 2:
The rocks begin to look blurred at this range and the color shapes become more apparent .

  Close-up 3:
At this range just the color shapes (each drawn by hand) are apparent The close-up is from between the two large rock formations in the above view.
